Průvodce specifickými aspekty československé (české) postkomunistické transformace je rozšířenou verzí publikace zpracované v rámci projektu Memory of Nations. Democratic Transition Guide, vydané před třemi roky ve spolupráci a za podpory National Endowment for Democracy. Ze zkušenosti států střední a východní Evropy po roce 1989 vyplynula potřeba se distancovat od mocensko-politické praxe předchozího totalitního režimu, relativně rozsáhlé personální očisty politických, ale i mocenských struktur, zejména policejních složek a armády. S tím úzce souvisela poměrně komplikovaná otázka otevření režimních archivů, vyšetřování komunistických zločinů, lustrační ochrana špiček státu a společnosti, rehabilitace obětí a uchování národní paměti.

In English

The Guide to specific aspects of the Czechoslovak (Czech) Post-Communist Transformation is an extended version of a publication prepared within the Memory of Nations project. Democratic Transition Guide, published three years ago in collaboration with and with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy. The experience of the states of Central and Eastern Europe after 1989 revealed the need to distance oneself from the power-political practice of the previous totalitarian regime, the relatively extensive personnel cleansing of political as well as power structures, especially police forces and the army. Closely related to this was the relatively complicated issue of opening regime archives, investigating communist crimes, lustration protection of the top of the state and society, rehabilitation of victims, and preservation of national memory.
