Abstract
The purpose of the study is to describe the purpose and original plan for the construction of the Osoblažská narrow-gauge railway, as the first railway in this area dates back to 1872. At that time it was a branch of the Moravian-Silesian Central Railway from Krnov to the Prussian Ziegenhals (Glucholazy). The line led far to Osoblaha and it was necessary to provide a transport connection for the import of raw materials from the local sugar refinery. The development followed and a historic moment came in 2014, when the first of the T47.0 or 705 series locomotives left the Osoblaha tracks after 55 years. The authors will examine how the construction of the Osoblažská narrow-gauge railway has influenced contemporary tourism in the area. The paper will contain the main findings after the analyses, the conclusion of the submitted paper will be an interpretation of the findings and a proposal for further benefits for ensuring safety when travelling on the narrow-gauge railway, especially during the tourist season, when the concentration of visitors is much higher.
