Course objectives
This course is aimed at the intersections between monetary policy, macroeconomic theory, and financial markets. Through a rigorous examination of topics such as advanced macroeconomic foundations of monetary policy and financial intermediation, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the complexities inherent in contemporary monetary economics. Special emphasis is placed on navigating uncertain economic environments and analyzing adaptive strategies for policymakers. Additionally, students will explore innovations in monetary policy tools and advanced interest rate modeling techniques, equipping them with the skills to forecast interest rate movements and assess risks effectively. The course also addresses crucial issues surrounding financial market regulation, derivatives, risk management strategies, and strategic management of financial institutions in today's rapidly evolving global financial landscape. Furthermore, students will critically evaluate trends in global regulatory frameworks, systemic risk assessment, and the roles of international financial governance institutions, providing them with a holistic perspective on ensuring financial stability and resilience in an interconnected world.
