Prerequisites

Students will expand their knowledge and refine their awareness of key concepts and problems of security, the organization of the security and intelligence services of the Czech Republic and their position in the security system of the Czech Republic, their reactions to the current security challenges of today, but also international cooperation and the integration of these services into the security structures of the Euro-Atlantic environment. In the exercises, they will deepen their practical skills of critical analysis and argumentation skills. Specific exercises will be implemented with a specific focus on controversial topics that shape the country's security and strategic culture as well as its practical security policy.

The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Students will expand their knowledge of the concept of safety and other key terms, learn about the conclusions of the Copenhagen School security studies and refine their awareness of the organization of the security and intelligence services of the Czech Republic in general (in context their legal status within the current security environment of the Czech Republic, the influence of specific security threats on their organization and scope, description of their position in the security system of the Czech Republic, analysis of the legal framework from the point of view the overall legal framework of the security of the Czech Republic and a description of specific cooperation between individual components). On specific ones examples, students will become familiar with their transformation after 1989, the current organization, the specific legal framework and description and analysis of current challenges (tasks). The subject will also offer a detailed presentation of international cooperation of the Czech security forces and in certain aspects will compare the situation in selected countries of the world. In the exercises, students will deepen their practical skills of critical analysis and argumentation skills. Specific exercises will be implemented with a specific focus on controversial topics from the area of ​​the security forces of the Czech Republic. On representatives of specific security forces will also be invited to the exercise in person
