The subject provides students with a closer acquaintance with the organization and activities of officials in ensuring the security of the state and with the methods and conditions under which these persons are called to perform public tasks. In this context, the law on the service relationship of members of the security forces and other tools for the performance of public service will be described. The individual authorizations, duties and coercive means of members of the security forces will also be presented and compared. Following this, the characteristics of the security (armed) corps and forces, as well as the status and role of private security services, will be given on the ground plan of the applicable legislation.

Course objectives
The subject provides students with a closer acquaintance with the organization and activities of officials in ensuring the security of the state and with the methods and conditions under which these persons are called to perform public tasks. In this context, the law on the service relationship of members of the security forces and other tools for the performance of public service will be described. The individual authorizations, duties and coercive means of members of the security forces will also be presented and compared. Following this, the characteristics of the security (armed) corps and forces, as well as the status and role of private security services, will be given on the ground plan of the applicable legislation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- list the Constitutional framework of the security of the Czech Republic and describe the public and state service system - to orientate in the service relationship of members of the armed forces - control other legal relationships of public employees in ensuring security - to orientate in official activities and powers of officials - describe the Integrated Rescue System and its components - describe the structure and tasks of the Police of the Czech Republic and the municipal police - describe other armed security forces - describe the armed forces of the Czech Republic incl. structure of activities - describe the intelligence services and their role - to orient oneself in the issue of the so-called privatization of security
