Prerequisites

Students acquire awareness of the important contexts of security and democratic politics in the Czech Republic. Attention will be paid to the political and social sector as sources of security threats, as assumed by the so-called Copenhagen school. Students are also introduced to the concept of militant democracy. They will also be able to analyze security threats associated with the democratic process.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to respond to current security threats and the readiness of the Czech political system to satisfactorily address them.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- describe the construction of democracy, define and know the concepts and waves of democratization, non-democratic regimes and security risks
- to navigate transitions to democracy, consolidation of democracy and its security risks
- be able to know and identify the Czech political system, its constitutional and institutional level
- find your way around political parties, the party system, the electoral system and the problems of Czech democracy. Then in the system of governance in modern democracies
- evaluate security and its dimensions, security threats and Czech politics
- orients himself in the issue of political extremism and militant democracy
- orient oneself in the issue of militant democracy in the Czech Republic and in the Czech migration policy.

Assessment methods
